WHAT SOFTWARE WILL I USE IN GIA’S CAD/CAM LAB CLASSES?
GIA's CAD/CAM lab classes currently use Rhinoceros along with Flamingo and Gemvision's Matrix 3D jewelry design software. Rhinoceros is standard software in a wide variety of manufacturing industries for 2-D and 3-D modeling. Flamingo is a "plug-in" for Rhino that allows photorealistic rendering of designs. Matrix provides an array of automated "builder menus" configured for jewelry-industry applications.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
• Formulate and edit two-dimensional designs
• Attach dimensions to 3-D designs as a blueprint in four views
• Change a design without starting over, and how to save a design for further use
• Render designs in color so clients and manufacturers will have a precise idea of a
  completed design's look

To receive maximum benefit from this class, students should have a working knowledge of Microsoft® Windows® -based software, as well as a familiarity with basic jewelry design and manufacturing. This class is taught only in English.
