"I currently study Chinese at university because several years ago I went to Bangkok with my parents to buy rubies and sapphire. Since then I have always been fascinated by the mysteries of the oriental world. In that moment I felt the start of the desire to get to know these beautiful precious stones.

Finally this year I could realize my dream by enrolling at GIA in Vicenza. During those six months I really understood how beautiful and yet difficult my father's work is. The first two months opened a window on the world of diamonds for me, and by the end, thanks to a truly wonderful instructor, I could determine exactly the clarity, the color, calculate the size and draw the plot of a diamond. I never thought I could get to know, in such a short time, a gem that carries with it a billion-year history. Then I studied colored stones for four months and I saw gems I never even imagined could exist.

Now that I am a gemologist I will go with my father to buy diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and emeralds in Antwerp, Bangkok, Bogotà ­ these countries where, either you know what you want to buy and you¹ve got the gemological expertise that allows you to do so or it¹s a waste of time to even go.
