If you come to study for the full 6-Month Graduate Gemologist Program, you may need to obtain a Study Visa.

GIA will help you by providing the documents you need however we suggest that you first contact the Italian Consulate or Embassy nearest to your city of residence for information on obtaining a study visa for Italy. You should allow at least 30 days for the process.
The type of visa required for GIA is a 'study visa for technical and professional instruction beyond the level of compulsory education'.

Short programs under 3 months
If you enroll in the 9-Week Jewelry Design or 7 week Graduate Diamonds Program, in many cases you can enter Italy with a 90-Day Tourist Visa. In some cases, you can enter Italy as a tourist without a Visa. The Italian Consulate will clarify this for you as regulations vary according to your citizenship.
