Welcome to GIA Florence.

We are located in the city of Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, where one experiences art in the medieval streets, in the craftsmen's workshops and in the Renaissance Palaces.
Florence is the world's greatest city for fine art and the heart of Renaissance history and culture. It possesses an almost inexhaustible wealth of monuments and great works of art. Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raffaello, Ghiberti, Botticelli, Donatello, Brunelleschi and all of the other towering figures of the Renaissance at one time or another lived and worked in Florence.
Florence has been a center of craftsmanship since the Middle Ages when shoemakers and goldsmiths were accorded the same status as artists and sculptors. Today, the city remains famous for its high-quality leather production, goldsmiths and marbled paper. Artisans can still be seen plying their trade in workshops all over the city. The area around Santa Croce is home to the city's leather-makers, while the Oltrarno is filled with the workshops of local gold and silversmiths. The Ponte Vecchio is home to the most elegant jewelry shops. Designer boutiques cluster around the Via de' Tornabuoni and Via Calzaiuoli where Versace, Ferragamo, Gucci, Prada and Valentino all have stores.
