DISTANCE EDUCATION COURSE ENROLLMENTS (in English Language)
To enroll in Distance Education courses in English, please submit your application to GIA Carlsbad, USA. To enroll in Lab
classes and Student Workroom sessions in English offered at GIA Florence, please submit your application to GIA Florence
direct.
Dates and Deadlines
There are no application deadlines. You will find the start dates for our On Campus Programs on the calendar.
You can begin most Distance Education programs immediately after you enroll and receive your materials.
You may choose Lab classes from our On Campus calendar, and apply with the On Campus application. Class
sizes are limited. We encourage you to apply early to avoid disappointment.

Apply by Fax
Send the appropriate application by fax to GIA Florence at +39 055 26.55.522. Be sure to provide your credit card
payment information or a photocopy of your bank wire transfer order.
Apply by Mail
Mail the appropriate application to GIA Florence. Include credit card payment information or enclose a photocopy
of your bank wire transfer order.
Pay by Credit Card
You may charge tuition and fees to your VISA or MasterCard.
Pay by Wire Transfer
Find our banking details inside the Payment Box of the application. Wire fees to be paid by the applicant.
Confirmation of Applications to On Campus and Lab Studies
If you do not receive your confirmation letter within two weeks after you have sent your application, please

Documents for obtaining your Student Visa will be mailed to you when GIA Florence has received all papers and
payments needed to complete your file and reserve your space in class. Any student who will be applying for a
Student Visa must remit the confirmation deposit of € 2.000,00 with their application fee for a total of € 2.100,00.
We strongly recommend that you allow at least 60 days for your visa application to be processed.
International students please note that all of our students are subject to the Valued Added Tax of 20%. For
example, the GG Program tuition is 11.750,00 + VAT of 20% = 2.350,00 for a total of Euro 14.100,00. The Italian
Government has ruled that since our courses and programs are services consumed in Italy, all students must pay the
VAT.
Student charges are valid for classes with start dates from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010. All student
charges are subject to change.
Is there financial aid available to help with the costs?
Students attending the Gemological Institute of America – GIA Florence, are eligible to apply for the International
Student Loan Program (ISLP) and the CanHELP loan program for Canadians.
